AMERICAN GANGSTER

Destined to become one of those movies played and replayed on the small screen for years to come. Washington and Crowe both deliver the powerhouse performances that we've come to expect. The material is fascinating and fast-paced (even at 2hrs 40mins the film flies by), and Ridley Scott is at his best as Diretor. This is a great movie...yet somehow underwhelming. The film's only flaw is the feeling we've seen it all before. Overall, a terrific movie (look for scene stealing moments from Ruby Dee and Armand Assante). 4 of 5 hs
