KNOCKED UP

Judd Apatow, along the rest of his entourage from the brilliant yet tragically underappreciated FREAKS AND GEEKS television series, is the current king of cinematic comedy. These are the folks who gave us THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN...and then KNOCKED UP, which was released a few months before another summer comedy sensation SUPERBAD. While SUPERBAD is a near flawless teenage comedy and one of the year's best films...KNOCKED UP isn't too far behind. The secret to all this success??? WRITING! The comedy resonates because of the wit, because of the familar, and becuase of the honesty. Although the premise of KNOCKED UP may be a bit much...and the 130+ running time is way too long...its heart is in the perfect place. Smart, funny, personal, and downright good! 3 1/2 of 5 hs
