Seducing Dr. Lewis

This French/Canadian film from 2003 is absolutely delightful! The title is somewhat misleading. This isn't Hollywood "seduction." A small Canadian fishing village goes through thousands of motions to seduce a doctor to move there. The scenery of the village is superb. The story, very clever. I chuckled throughout the entire film. No cussing, no blood, no guts, no seduction as we typically think of it...GREAT film! 4.5 out of 5.

1408

I love John Cusack. I love Samuel L. Jackson. I grew up on Twilight Zones....So much for all of that. This movie was as mediocre as the window that John Cusack crawled in and out of. I'll give it a charitable 3. Joe

Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead

I never saw this one from 1995. GREAT FLICK! Excellent story with unanticipated happenings. Awesome acting by an all star cast (Andy Garcia, Christopher Lloyd, Jack Warden, Steve Buscemi), beautiful lady (Gabrielle Anwar), violence, EVERYTHING a great movie needs! This is a definite five. Thanks, JB, for the recommendation. Joe

TRANSFORMERS

Great effects! COOL Camaro. I almost fell asleep somewhere around 45 minutes then things got cranked and woke me up. If you like things turning into things and shooting each other, you will like it. 3.5. Joe

Music and Lyrics

Young men, for that matter, older men; for that matter, geriatric men; listen to me here. Watch "Music and Lyrics" with your date/wife/significant other. Open some Chardonnay or Champagne, slice some cheese, nosh on it while you two watch this movie. She will LOVE it. She will love YOU for watching it with her. I watched it with my male Scottish Terrier, Brutus. I gave him a dog biscuit...Hugh Grant plays a great "Paul McCartney type wash up," Drew Barrymore's facial expressions were tremendous throughout the movie, and Haley Bennett does a very good job playing a "Brittney Spears type musical artist" in her first movie. Watching it with Brutus, I give it a 4. Under different circumstances it could be a 4.5. The movie was also replete with light cadmium reds and nice paintings on walls! Nice artistic touch! Joe

Black Snake Moan

Wow. I don't even know where to begin. The music was great. Samuel L. Jackson acted well. I liked "Snakes on a Plane" better though...kinda kidding kinda not. I wonder why Jackson bought cough syrup before cleaning the blood off the girls face, how so much could happen in what appeared to be a few days, why the girl's left eye appeared to be healed in some scenes only to not be in later ones, how the girl could get away with beating up her mom in the grocery store, and, oh, one last thing, chains??? Maybe a 3?

Live Free Or Die Hard

Rocky Balboa and John McClane met in the ring the 41st time...oops, I got carried away. I liked "Rocky Balboa" and I liked "Live Free Or Die Hard." If you are looking for non stop action, tremendous villains (Timothy Olyphant and Maggie Q), and Bruce Willis being Bruce Willis, you will love it. If you are looking for a great story and something more realistic than Superman, you might not. For the action (and free Diet Coke and buttery popcorn I got at the new Regal) I will give it a 4. Joe
